CEPC President's Letter

“It ain’t over ‘til it’s over.” – Yogi Berra

CEPC ‘s fiscal year is coming to a close, coinciding with what may be the most challenging world environment we have been part of. In spite of this, our mission to promote the interest of the public, by providing an educational forum for estate planning professionals from various disciplines, to foster cooperation and share ideas relevant to the estate planning process, remains strong.

I want to thank each of our members for the support you have given this organization year after year. It is our strong member involvement and sponsor support that helps make our events possible.  The fiscal year 2019-20 was a successful year implementing new initiatives and strategically addressing new challenges. Some of our key accomplishments this year include:

  • Recruited a cohort of exceptionally knowledgeable and relevant speakers including Thomas McGraw, J.P. Morgan; Tom Myrick, counsel for the Kimberley Rice Kaestner Trust; and Jeffrey D. Haskell, Foundation Source.
  • Support from valuable meeting sponsors; Foundation Source, South Park Advisors, and Culp Elliott and Carpenter.
  • Successfully hosted our 2nd Annual Members-Only Networking Event at Lenny Boy Brewing Co., sponsored by Hatcher Law Group.
  • Created and published industry appropriate and useful information to CEPC’s LinkedIn Page.
  • Simplified and framed a new sponsorship offering to be effective in fiscal year 2020-2021.

We have scheduled our 2020 Annual Meeting to be held virtually on Wednesday, May 27th at 4:30pm. We will host our Annual Business Meeting to elect our slate of officers prior to hearing from Paul S Lee, J.D., LL.M. on Planning in the Shadow of Uncertainty, Social Distancing & Fear.  Paul is the Global Fiduciary Specialist at Northern Trust Company and his presentation has been submitted to provide 1-hour CE/CLU credits for CPA®, CFP®, and Insurance designees.

CEPC Annual meetings require a quorum of 45 members to officially vote on the proposed slate of 2020-2021 CEPC Officers. We hope everyone can join us so we can meet our required quorum.

Thank you to the Board, our membership, and our sponsors for your time and dedication to this outstanding organization.  I am confident, with the continued hard work of our officers and support from members and sponsors, CEPC will live up to its mission for years to come.

Sincerely,

Andy Young
2019-2020 President
